The Season of Lent at Most Sacred Heart

We have begun the season of Lent. This penitential time unites us to the sufferings of Christ, so as to renew the faith of our baptism. Please pay particular attention this year to the Sunday Lenten readings that speak of faith and baptism and our participation in the Paschal Mystery of the Lord’s Death and Resurrection.

As you increase your Lenten observance by prayer, fasting and works of charity, I ask you remember three particular groups in your prayers: the second graders of our parish who are preparing for the Eucharist as a Sacrament of Initiation on Sunday May 4; the eighth graders of our parish who are preparing for Confirmation as a Sacrament of Initiation on Wednesday, April 30 with Bishop Hermann; and our own adult Catechumens and Candidates for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist who will be brought into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19 at 8 pm. Your prayers will help them experience the companionship of Christ as they move along on the journey of faith.

Please remember during the season of Lent, we will expand our daily Mass schedule. From Mondays through Fridays Masses will be celebrated at 7 am and 8 am each morning. Additionally we will have Mass on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm.

Stations of the Cross will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning this week at 7 pm and on Friday afternoons with the school children in attendance at 2:30 pm. Confessions will be available on Wednesday evenings following Stations as well as on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4 pm.

Have a Blessed Lent!
Fr. Rick Schilli
