First CommunionFirst Holy Communion

The 2nd-grade children of Most Sacred Heart Parish are prepared to receive their First Holy Communion in classes presented in Most Sacred Heart School or the Parish School of Religion. This sacrament is typically held on the first Sunday in May. Those not registered in MSHS or PSR for the entire Communion Class will receive private instructions and can make arrangements to receive First Holy Communion individually at the time and date of their choice.

ConfirmationConfirmation

Confirmation is the Sacrament we receive the Holy Spirit in a special way.
Children: Eighth graders of Most Sacred Heart Parish are confirmed soon after Easter. The Confirmation program extends between 7th and 8th grade. Seventh grade serves as a time to review the fundamental beliefs and practices, morals and teachings of the Catholic Church. Eighth grade provides an opportunity to put the Faith into practice by becoming more familiar with ways in which the Church needs the active involvement of all of its members and also providing opportunities for “hands-on” practice of the Faith in prayer and charity.
Adults:
Those who are becoming Catholic as adults have the option of being confirmed at the Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday or receiving the Sacrament at the time of their adult baptism or Profession of Faith.

ReconciliationReconciliation

The Lord gave us Reconciliation as a means of being cleansed of our sins. This Sacrament is routinely scheduled on Saturday afternoons from 3:30-4:15. Our confessionals provide for confession on a face-to-face basis or, if you prefer, from behind a screen if you wish to remain anonymous. Catholics are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Penance regularly, at least during Lent and in preparation for Christmas. During Advent and Lent, the parish offers Penance Services in Church so that greater numbers of penitents can be accommodated. Several priests are available at these times. Check the bulletin for times and dates. The 2nd-grade children of Most Sacred Heart Parish are prepared to make their First Reconciliation through MSHS or PSR, usually held before Advent. Those not enrolled in MSHS or PSR will receive private instructions and can arrange to make their First Reconciliation at a time and date of their choosing. By Church Law, those conscious of serious sin must confess as soon as possible and may not receive our Lord in Holy Communion until they have received absolution sacramentally. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact Fr. Joe Kempf.

Anointing of the SickAnointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is given to us by Christ to strengthen in body and in soul those who are in immediate or even proximate danger of death. Generally speaking, those who are over the age of 75, those facing major surgery, those with a terminal illness or those facing a life-threatening situation may be anointed. One can be anointed again each month for the same sickness or immediately in danger of death. Those who have already passed may not be anointed. However, the priest may still be called to pray over the one who has died and to bring comfort and consolation to family and friends. Call the rectory any time of the day or night in an emergency situation. If no one answers the phone at Sacred Heart please call Sacred Heart Parish in Valley Park (225-5268), St. Bridget in Pacific (271-3993), Our Lady Queen of Peace in House Springs (671-3062) or St. Alban in Glencoe (458-2977). If you need to schedule a funeral, please call the parish secretary at 636-938-5048, ext 100

MatrimonyMatrimony

We are excited for you and for your families! Your commitment to love one another forever is a sign of hope for the world. Your request to be married in the community of the Church is a sign of faith.
Where do we start? Email the Parish Secretary by clicking the contact button below. She’ll reach out to you to receive the basic information we need, explain the process, and look at possible dates.
When should we contact MSH? Generally, as soon as the two of you have decided to get married, preferably a year or more in advance, and before you schedule a reception venue. (Note that marriage dates are only tentative until after pre-marriage assessment work is completed.)
Who can get married at MSH? To be married at Most Sacred Heart, at least one party should be a registered member of our Parish and be living an active and practising Catholic life.
When can a wedding be scheduled? Weddings at Most Sacred Heart may be celebrated on most Fridays and Saturdays of the year, except during Lent. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evenings, or on Saturdays at either 11:00 am or 1:30 pm.
Final Message: Yes, there is much to plan, and a lot to prepare. But we pray that through it all you will keep a place in your heart for what really matters. For your wedding is one day – your marriage is forever. The time you spend now talking, praying, forgiving and working on your relationship, sets the groundwork for a holy and life-giving marriage: in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, all the days of your life.
